Dugong Films is a Rome based production company, founded in 2011, focused on exploring the blurred line between fiction, documentary and visual art, developing cinematic experiences, in an international framework.
The name draws its name from the “dugong”, a large marine mammal, who unexpectedly inspired ancient alluring seafaring tales of mermaids.
Dugong Films is the only European company who won three times the Eurimages Lab Project Award dedicated to promote innovative projects exploring new forms of expression. Our productions have been shown and awarded in the most important international festivals such as Berlinale Film Festival, Quinzaine des Réalisateurs, Venice Film Festival, Berlinale, Locarno Film Festival, San Sebastian Film Festival.
Many films have been exhibited in important art venues such as Tate Modern, Art Basel, Moma, Venice Biennale, Maxxi Museum, Manifesta Biennial.
A vision, the projection of a desire, is this dazzling imagination that we like to glimpse in the films we produce.
